On the afternoon of June 10, 2024, Sister Grace Arnold, at the age of 84, answered her Heavenly Father's call from this earthly home to her Heavenly home.
Grace Arnold was born in Austin, Texas on April 24, 1940, to David and Annie Houston Arnold. Grace attended the public schools in Austin, Texas and graduated from the original L. C. Anderson High School. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mount Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend S. A. Davis.
Grace loved her family and enjoyed talking to her sisters on the phone. She liked listening to sermons and gospel music. Her favorite entertainment was watching the old westerns movies.
Grace was an independent little lady and a beautiful person inside and out. She had a spirited personality, always smiling as she put her hands on her hip.
Grace relocated to Fort Worth, Texas in 1965. She united with the Macedonia Baptist Church and served as an Usher.
Grace was blessed by her brother, Arthur, who drove her everywhere she needed to go. Her career included employment at Winn Dixie, Coca Cola Bottling Company, and Colonial Cafeteria. Her longest tenure and final area of service was with Laurel Land Funeral Home for about a 30-year tenure.
Grace returned to the Austin and Bastrop area in the summer of 2023. It was God's grace and mercy that brought her back home. God blessed Grace with her nephew, Willis and his wife, Patricia to be her caretaker. She was loved by his family and friends. Grace went to church with them and felt so comfortable and welcome. She joined Winn’s Memorial and fell in love with the church family, everyone called her Aunt Gracie. She was part of Mission II and served them faithfully and enjoyed the fellowship. Grace loved her Pastor. She was a little spoiled. She wouldn't leave the sanctuary until Pastor Townsend personally spoke to her. Even when her health declined, she was determined and still attended church.
Grace’s mother, Annie Arnold, father, David Arnold, brothers, David Arnold, Jr, Willis Arnold, Marion Arnold, sisters, Vernice Ingram, Gladys Lawshe, and Mae Lois Wilson preceded her in death.
Aunt Gracie is survived by her sister, Martha Hutchins, Austin, Texas, brother, Arthur Arnold (Della), Fort Worth, Texas and brother-in-law, Frank Wilson, Austin, TX, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends, including Winn’s Memorial Church family.
