A LIFE CELEBRATED: absent from the body, and present with the LordMrs. Goldie B. Henson Price was born to Earnest Henson, Sr. and Doshie Louis Henson on November 13, 1928 in Houston, Texas. Goldie was educated in Houston Schools graduating from Jack Yates High School and studying nursing at Prairie View A M University.The Earnest Henson Family worshipped at Christian Home Missionary Baptist Church. At an early age, Goldie was baptized there by Reverend L. B. Tolson. She was active in childrens activities: Sunday school, vacation bible school, starlight band, choir and, youth and young adult activities: girls auxiliary, junior choir, BTU, junior ushers and all special programs. Goldie united in marriage to L. D. Price, Sr. at THE HOME in 1951. They made their home in Elgin, TX where L. D. was an agriculture teacher and they joined Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church. Continuing to serve the Lord, she taught young adults in Sunday school, deaconess chairperson and pastors aide president, womens ministry member, and was cochair and chairperson of many activities.A loving and caring person Goldie entered Holy Cross School of Nursing at Holy Cross Hospital in Austin. After completing her studies she worked in the newborn nursery and later as a charge nurse. She worked there for ten years. Always eager to learn and serve others she was then employed at Bergstrom Air Force Base Hospital in Austin. In the pediatrics unit she cared for newborns and gave clinical care to the young. Then she retired after 25 years of dedicated service.A true people person, Goldie loved being with people and that was seen in her fun and dedicated hours of playing RummyQ. Not only was she an excellent player but an outstanding teacher introducing many others to this exciting game. She taught and coached young and all to become seasoned players. She enjoyed the competition. Being active she enjoyed civic, religious, educational, social, family events and became quite a traveler. Among many trips and cruises to exciting places she met and formed lasting relationships. Her last cruise took her to Australia and New Zealand causing her to say: I studied the continents and many foreign places in school yet I cant believe that I am now down underas we left New Zealand. Her lifes journey on earth ended July 11, 2013. Goldie B., the last of eight children was preceded in death by mother: Doshie at a very early age father: Ernest Sr. brothers: Ernest Jr., Edgar Henson, Sr., and J K Henson sisters: Curtis Henson Merritt, surrogate mother Elester Henson, Meadie Henson Wiley, and Willie Henson Edison. She is survived by her devoted husband of sixtytwo years L. D. Price, Sr., sons: L.D. Jr., and Edwin and Eva Price. Grandchildren: Dakota and Steven Burns Leslie, and Trevor Price great grandson: Aslan Burns. NieceSister: Gloria Merritt James NieceGoddaughter: Cherie JamesJohnson Nieces: Jocelyn Wiley Ford, Jasmine Johnson, Akilah Johnson, Raeesah James, Renee Rogers , Charolette Henson, Deirdre Hall, Lindsey Hall, Belinda Rallenight, Lucretia Dailey, Maria Ashley, and Tonya Henson. Nephews: Cornell W. Wiley, Kenneth and Bernadette James, Michael C. James, J. Rashad Merritt Johnson, Amir James, Reginald Ford, Ernest Henson III, Edgar Henson Jr., Adrian Henson, Carlton Wiley, Corbin Wiley, Sterling Hall and Keith Henson.Lifelong friends include: Pharnice Harris, Fannie Davis, Mozell Turner, Doris Hargrove, Issac Hayes, Gladys Ward, and Patricia Madison. Special familyfriends include: Diana and Willie Jones, Gladys Clark, Kay Francis, and Bobbie.She will be laid to rest on: Monday, July 22, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Paradise South Cemetery in Pearland, Texas. The graveside service will be officiated by Rev. D. R. Jefferson, Pastor of Christian Home Baptist Church, Houston, which is the Hensons family home church.She has taken with her the love of those she touched. She is at peace
