Glennie Pohler

Glennie Trueper Pohler went to be with her Heavenly Father on February 2, 2018, in Elgin, Texas. She was the youngest of four children born to Edwin Trueper and Olga Fruedenberg Trueper in Fayette County, Texas on August 22, 1932. Glennie grew up and attended school in the Prairie Valley area of Fayette County, Texas. After marrying the love of her life, R.J. Pohler, on July 18, 1953, they resided in West Point, Texas and Elgin, Texas, before moving to McDade, Texas in 1958. Glennie was a long-time resident of McDade; faithfully serving the community at every opportunity and she was honored to be named the McDade Watermelon Festival Parade Marshall, along with her late husband R. J., in July 2003. Glennie worked as a home maker and for the U.S. Postmaster in McDade, Texas. Glennie enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and attending services at the Faith Lutheran Church in McDade.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents and her brother, Wilburn Trueper; sisters, Leona Trueper Davis and Stella Trueper Grant.

She is survived by her daughter, Ruth and husband Lee Walton, Jr. of Elgin; her grandson, Dylan Carter and wife Staci Carter of Elgin; her granddaughter, Destany Carter and husband Rey Ramirez of McDade; her youngest grandson, Wesley Carter and wife Amanda Carter of Elgin; and eleven great-grandchildren, Tait Carter, Tanner Carter, Cooper King, Demi Carter, Kaia Ramirez, Abby King, Cason Carter, Alayna Ramirez, Sadie Ramirez, Ollie Blair Carter and Olin Carter. She will be greatly missed.

Memorial contributions can be made in Glennie's memory to the Faith Lutheran Church, 230 Waco Street, McDade, Texas 78650.

The family will receive guests at the Elgin Funeral Home on Monday, February 5th from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be conducted at the Faith Lutheran Church of McDade on Tuesday, February 6th at 11:00 AM with Reverends Kelsie and Paul Theiss officiating. Repast will be held in the Church Fellowship Hall following services. Interment will be held a 2:00 PM at Prairie Valley Cemetery in West Point, Texas.
