Gladys Faye Mogonye, 85, passed away on Monday evening, September 7, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. Gladys was born the fourth of six children to Willie and Olga Kriedel Gebert, on October 4, 1929. Gladys grew up on the family farm and attended schools in Manor, Texas. Not long after meeting the love of her life, Anton Charlie Mogonye at the Dessau Dance Hall, they married and together raised two daughters. They celebrated 47 years of marriage before Anton"s passing in 1993. Gladys was very active in her lifetime; owning and operating her in-house daycare for over 30 years, volunteering with the S.P.J.S.T. Lodge #18 of Elgin as the "Ticket Lady" for 33 years, and was a devoted Wife, Mother, Nanny, and dear friend to everyone she knew. Gladys loved listening to polka music, gambling, trips to Vegas to see Wayne Newton, shopping at Wal-Mart. She was known for her fried chicken and banana pudding, and spending time with her family and friends. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Anton; both her parents; and her infant son, Charles David; her three brothers, Leslie, Emmitt, and Wilton; her two sisters, Ina Rhea "Punkin"" and Lois; and her beloved "Little Maggie."Gladys is survived by her two daughters, Janice and husband Danny Blisard of Elgin and Judy Mogonye and fianc" Justin Greenhalgh of Pflugerville; her only granddaughter, Cassandra and husband Curtis Craig, Jr. of Elgin; two great-granddaughters, Charlie and Coltlyn Craig; and numerous nieces and nephews.The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the Nursing Staff and Physicians of St. David"s Medical Center for their compassionate and tender care they gave to our mother and us during this difficult time.The family will receive guests at the Elgin Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, September 11th. A Funeral Service will be conducted at the Elgin Funeral Home at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 12th with the Reverend, Mark Nygard officiating. Interment will follow at the Elgin Cemetery.
