Gerald Jarmon

Gerald A. Jarmon, 90, of Elgin, Texas passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, Monday evening, February 4, 2013. Gerald was born the second of three children to Lillian Rister Jarmon and Aubrey W. Jarmon on September 18, 1922, in Beaukiss, Texas. He grew up on the family farm in Beaukiss and attended the Woodrow Community School. In January of 1943, he was inducted into the Army Air Corps during World War II, where he served his Nation for four years. After his enlistment, he moved back home and began a lifelong career in carpentry. On October 6, 1951, he married the love of his life, Leona Neidig. Gerald worked hard all his life he owned and operated Gerald Jarmon Builders with his sons. In his spare time, he began a passion for ranching. His passion for ranching became a fulltime occupation after retiring from his custom home building business. He enjoyed the country living feeding and tending to his cattle, riding his fourwheeler around the pasture with his bud, Tyler, helping his neighbors with whatever they needed, and spending afternoons eating ice cream with his grandkids. He is preceded in death by his wife of almost 59 years, Leona his younger brother, Harold and both his parents.He is survived by his four children, Jerry and wife Debra, Shirley Jarmon, Nancy and husband James Scooter Phillips, and Rodney and wife Karol and only sister, Arlene Juenemann of Las Vegas, NV dear niece, Joyce Dalley of Rockdale eight grandchildren, Justin Jarmon and wife Janel, Ashley and husband Owen Nalle, Jarrod Jarmon and wife Amy, Julianne and Ben Burkhalter, Melanie Moon, Steven Moon and wife Taressa, Donavon Jarmon, and Meagan Jarmon five greatgrandchildren, McKenna Jarmon, Cutter Burkhalter, Kason Jarmon, Jameson Jarmon, and Kody Jarmon brotherinlaw, Alton Neidig and wife Mailene and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.The family would like to thank the Bastrop Nursing Center for their compassion and care as well as the Elgin Meals on Wheels for their sincere care and immeasurable acts of kindness. Memorial contributions can be made in Geralds memory to Elgins Meals on Wheels, Combined Community Action, Attention Helen Snow, 165 Austin Street, Giddings, Texas 78942.The family will receive guests at the Elgin Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, February 7th. A funeral service will be conducted at Elgin Funeral Home at 3:00 PM Friday, February 8th with Brother Jim Platt officiating. Interment will follow with Military Honors at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
