George Gause Jr

George Reginald Gause, Jr, 85, of Elgin, Texas, passed away peacefully in his sleep Monday, December 30, 2013. He was born on April 11, 1928 in Fernindina, Florida to parents George Reginald, Sr. and Amlia Gause.As a young man he enlisted in the United States Navy on April 5, 1946. During his career with the Navy he served in World War II where he was in a communist prison for three years. He became a sponge diver with his father in Tarpon Springs, learning to become an underwater welder and having to go to depths of 500 feet and after 35 years he decided to retire. As a young boy he was an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts, he was also a member of the VFW and the American Legion Post 126 in Hertford, North Carolina for 10 plus years. Though he had a fruitful career he was most proud of his family. He was a loving husband and family man who will be dearly missed.He is preceded in death by his parents, George Reginald, Sr. and Amlia Gause.He leaves to cherish his memory to his wife, Alma Gause, his children and grandchildren and numerous other family members and friends.A private memorial is scheduled for a later date.
