Gary Allen Keller, 61, of Elgin, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2020. Gary was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on December 22, 1958 to Bill and Sandra Keller. Gary spent his early years in St. Paul and Houston, Texas. After graduating high school in Minnesota, he joined the United States Navy. He served honorably and spent the last two years of his military career as a Navy Diver. While training for the Navy Seals, in Coronado, CA, he met Bonnie Caselli. Instantly the two fell in love and were married 10 months later, on December 19, 1985. In 1989, Gary and Bonnie moved to Austin, where they started their family. Shortly after moving to Austin, where their daughter, Megan and son, Brian were born, they moved to Elgin. Gary worked for many years at Dell as a project manager. After leaving Dell, Gary decided to become self-employed as a handy man, where he worked all over Central Texas.
In 2013, Gary was diagnosed with Stage V Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma; he fought a courageous battle and was in remission for two years. During his fight, he continued work and take care of his family. While he won his battle with cancer, he succumbed to the long-term effects of the radiation and chemo treatments.
Gary is preceded in death by both his parents and his son, Brian. Gary leaves behind his wife of 34 years, Bonnie; his daughter, Megan; his son, Orinthian Sorrells; his twin sisters, Sheila Provost and Sheri Christensen; his four brothers, Larry, Allen, and Dale Keller and Bobby Christensen; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Family and Friends will gather at the Elgin Funeral Home for visitation, on Sunday, March 8th from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 4:00 PM. A Celebration of Christian Funeral Mass will be conducted at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Elgin, on Monday, March 9th at 10:00 AM with Father George presiding. He will be laid to rest with Military Honors at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery of Killeen, at 3:00 PM.
