Gary Higdon

Gary Gene Higdon , 65, of Elgin, passed away Friday evening, January 13, 2023. He was born on October 20, 1957, to William and Alice Higdon in Victoria, Texas.

Gary was united in Holy Matrimony to Cassandra Lynn Green on April 25, 1981. This union was blessed with two girls, Elizabeth, and Victoria.

Gary was an instate truck driver, seeing many miles through his wind shield.  He drove for the brick yard and Ryder Transportation. He was a hunter by enjoyment but a deer hunter by sportsman’s skills.  He enjoyed the game especially when his daughter, Elizabeth, ( the daughter who was the son he never had ) would go. Gary loved his family and enjoyed family times.

Gary is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 41 years, Cassandra ‘Sandy’ Higdon; two beautiful daughters, Elizabeth Nicole Higdon Dutcher and her husband, Justin Dutcher, and Victoria Ann Higdon; one grandson, Tylor Dutcher; his brother, Robert Higdon; his sister, Alice Charbula; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews covering three generations and a host of other relatives and friends.

Serving with Grace and Honor as Pallbearers will be, Elizabeth Dutcher, Justin Dutcher, Tylor Dutcher, Victoria Higdon, Tarrah Thomas, Glen Willis, Robert Higdon, and William Charbula.  Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Steve Yencer and Luke Higdon

Family and friends will gather for a Visitation at Elgin Funeral Home on Friday, January 20th from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.  A Graveside service will be conducted at Nursery Cemetery in Victoria, Texas at 12:00 PM with Brother Joshua Hausladen presiding.
