Fred Resendez

Fred Resendez, a life long resident of Elgin, TX , passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday evening, April 23, 2017, at the age of 83. Fred was born on April 20, 1934, in Elgin, TX to Eudelia Gonzales Resendez and Luciano M. Resendez.

Fred was a devoted husband and father. He recently celebrated 62 years of marriage with the love of his life, Martha, who he adored. He was known and will forever be remembered as a man with many jokes. He was a devoted Christian and shared the love of God with everyone he met. He was also involved in many church activities and had a passion for singing, playing the accordion and harmonica . He will be deeply missed by family, friends and all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by both his parents, his son, Jessie Resendez; sister, Lucy Chavaria; his brothers Willie Resendez; David Resendez; Robert Resendez; and son-in-law Raul Lopez.

Fred is survived by his loving wife, Martha Resendez; children, Fred Resendez, Jr., Delia Lopez, Norma Resendez, Robert Resendez, Joe Resendez, Mary Lou Guerrero; his caregiver for many years and granddaughter, Joanna Resendez; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive guests at the Elgin Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, April 26th. A Funeral Service will be conducted at the New Generation Church of Elgin on Thursday, April 27th at 11:00 AM with Brother, Richard Benavides officiating. Interment will follow at the Elgin Latin Cemetery.
