Frances Marian Shafer Czirr, 86, of Elgin, Texas formerly of St. Joseph, Michigan went to be with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 2, 2013. Frances was born to Albert and Clara Hoge Shafer on October 15, 1926. Frances grew up in Baroda, MI, where she was a member of the Baroda High School Bulldog boys softball team. She completed her registered nursing degree from Deaconess Hospital in St. Louis, MO. During her 86 years she was a Cub Scout den mother, womens fellowship leader, and TOPS leader. She was also instrumental in starting the hearing impaired school for Berrien County in the 1960s. She loved attending bible studies and volunteering at the First Church of God. She volunteered at her grandchildrens schools. She also enjoyed visiting all of her kids and attending many of her grandchildrens sporting and school events. She was a true fan of the M Go Blue football team. She was very creative and she created many memorable birthday cakes ranging from princess doll cakes to race cars for her family. She was a woman of strong core values that she passed on to everyone that knew her.She is preceded in death by her husband Sigfried Czirr her granddaughter, Lindsy Wing and sister, Marjorie Shafer Troxell.She is survived by her son, James Czirr of Sandpoint, ID and his children, Elizabeth, Eric, James and his wife Joelle son, George Czirr and his wife Lois of Kalamazoo, MI and their children, Carrie and Katie daughter, Kay Czirr Wing and husband Jordan Wing of Elgin, TX and their children, Cuyler and Jenna son Carl Czirr and his wife Brenda of Brooklyn, OH, and their children, Micah, Carenda, Daniel, and Timothy her siblings, Don Shafer, Albert Shafer, Elaine Fowler, and Jim Shafer and many nieces and nephews. She was a true blessing to this world and she touched many lives throughout her life.The family will receive guests at the StarksMenchinger Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, Saint Joseph, Michigan, from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM Sunday, January 6th. A funeral Service will be conducted at StarksMenchinger Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Monday, January 7th. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph, MI.
