Emerson Lavaca Manor, seventy-nine, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 14, 2019. Emerson was a long-time resident of Central Texas, born in Austin, attending the public schools in Littig and Elgin, and working in Bastrop County… he was a self-made man, an upright citizen and one may say he was a God-fearing man – a Child of God. He spent his last days at the Elgin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Emerson was born on September 21, 1939, to Torn Ella Manor and Lorene Hawkins Manor. Emerson was blessed with a strong Christian foundation and accepted Christ at an early age. He was a hard-working man, learned the trade of farming and ranching. He worked for the Lungren through their five generations. He was a faithful member of Weeping Willow Baptist Church.
Emerson is preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Meeks-Manor, his parents, sister, Maxine, brothers, LaRue and Cleavon.
Emerson leaves in God’s hands to cherish his legacy, Conetha, Glenda, Ruby, Glen, Robert, Douglas, and De’Andre; great-grandchildren, a sister, Glyn Dora Edwards of Dallas, and a host nieces, nephews and cousins covering five generations including a multitude of friends.
The family will receive guests at the Elgin Funeral Home on Friday, February 22nd from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Following the visitation, a Home-Going Celebration will be conducted graveside, following visitation, at the Littig Cemetery.
“For a day in their courts is better than a thousand. I’d rather be a doorkeeper than to dwell in the tents of the wicked.” ~Psalm 84:10
