Emma Martinez Vargas, 84, of Elgin, Texas, passed away Thursday afternoon, August 13, 2020, surrounded by her family. She was born on Wednesday, April 8. 1936 in Crystal City, Texas, to Maria and Ramon Martinez.
Emma loved music, it was a big part of who she was. It was music and dancing that would lead her to meet and marry the love of her life on April 22, 1961. They brought three beautiful souls into this world, one girl and two boys. They raised their family in Pasadena and Laredo where she worked as a Teachers Aide, a job she enjoyed so much. The children loved her dearly and would flock to her kind and warm spirit and she was ready to love on any one who would need it. They moved to Elgin, Texas in 1995 after Emma retired. She was the Matriarch of the family. Emma made sure that everyone was cared for, she was always last on her list. She was a spiritual woman. She prayed the rosary every night without fail, her faith was a big part of who she was. She was a believer and made sure to share that passion with others around her. She never met a stranger, and she never passed any judgement. Emma was open minded and respected different beliefs and lifestyles. She truly was a woman that loved you unconditionally.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, Maria and Ramon Martinez; siblings, Emilio Martinez, Ervay Martinez, Elfego Martinez, Hermila Alvarez, Ramon Martinez, Jr. (Chico), Elda Martinez.
Emma is survived by her husband, Oscar Vargas; one daughter, Sonya Vargas; two sons, Oscar Vargas, Jr. and Hector Vargas; granddaughters, Naomi and Mary Vargas; great granddaughter Maia Davila
She was such a special person and made such an impact on everyone’s lives, where there is sadness there was great love. She will be missed.
