Mrs. Elnora Ramon Castillo, born on August 20, 1930, in Austin, Texas, was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, friend. She was the daughter of the late Pat Nandin and Trinity Reyes and was one of five children. Elnora spent most of her life in Elgin Texas, where she cherished the warmth of family and faith until her peaceful passing on October 24, 2024.
Elnora was a dedicated servant of Lord Jesus Christ. Her unwavering faith shone brightly throughout her life, as she played a pivotal role in establishing two local churches and was known for her powerful prayers that touched the hearts of many. She lived a humble and serene life, raising her fifteen children with love and devotion. Elnora found immense joy in the laughter and love brought by each new generation of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Her kindness extended beyond her family; she was a dear friend to many in the community, always ready to lend a helping hand. Elnora worked as a private attendant in home health and served for years in various nursing homes, including Balches Nursing Home, Travis State School, and Golden Years Nursing Home. Her home was often filled with the joyous sounds of children, as she opened her doors to the town’s little ones, embracing them with her boundless affection.
At a tender age of 15, Elnora met her first husband, Alfredo “Fred” Ramon, with whom she had twelve children. After his passing, she later married Rodrigo “Roy” Castillo, and together they welcomed three more children into their family. Throughout her life, even in the face of tragedies, Elnora's love for others and her unwavering faith in God remained steadfast.
Elnora is now reunited in eternal peace with her parents, Pat Nandin and Trinity Reyes; her brothers, Francisco, Pat, and Lawrence; her sister, Elizabeth Isabel; and her beloved children, Tony Ramon, David Ramon, Johnny Ramon, Paul Ramon, Tommy Ramon, and Louisa Hernandez.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, survived by her cherished children: Steve Ramon, Fred Ramon, Jr., Henry Ramon, Irene Ramon Marapao, Mary Ann Ramon Yrigoyen, Richard Ramon, Jessie Castillo, Sara Castillo, and David Castillo. Elnora is also survived by an adoring lineage of 38 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Her two loyal fur babies, Pee-Wee and Lou-Lou, will continue to feel her loving presence by their side.
As we honor Elnora's remarkable life, our family extends our heartfelt thanks for the outpouring of prayers, calls, flowers, and blessings during this time. May her spirit of love and generosity live on in all of us who had the privilege of knowing her.
