With great sadness, we announce the passing of Elizabeth “Betsy” Anne Erwin. Betsy, 66, of Elgin, Texas, passed away Saturday evening, January 9th, 2021. Betsy was truly an amazing person. She worked incredibly hard at Austin Community College (ACC) for more than 20 years. Betsy began her career at ACC in bookkeeping. Over time, Betsy’s dedication and skills were recognized as she advanced to the position of ACC Campus Manager, at the South Austin Campus. In 2013, Betsy was instrumental to the opening of ACC’s new campus in Elgin. She was stable on the campus for many years as its Campus Manager.
Betsy’s commitment to her work was only surpassed by her commitment to her family and friends. Betsy was a wonderful wife and mother. Betsy and her husband, David Erwin, had been together for more than 20 years. Betsy was a proud and caring mother to her son, Daniel Patton, and daughter, Jade Erwin. Betsy suffered the unimaginable loss of her beautiful daughter Jade in March of 2020. Betsy missed Jade immensely whilst still finding the strength to handle the tragedy with grace. Betsy remained incredibly close with her son, Daniel, and was a pillar in his family, as grandma to Scarlett and mother-in-law to Barbara. Betsy was very active in Jade’s life, with the pair participating in Girl Scouts together since Jade was very young.
Betsy lived a very full life. She balanced her family and career magnificently while making the time to better herself and take part in hobbies. Betsy completed her bachelor's degree at Texas State in San Marcos in her fifties, during which time she was raising Jade. Betsy loved to cook for her family and for fun; she was an excellent cook. She was an animal lover, filling her life and house with them. Betsy was a very kind and generous person, loved by everyone who knew her. She will be greatly missed.
Betsy is survived by her loving husband, David; her son, Daniel and Daniel’s wife and daughter, Barbara and Scarlett; her dog-hter, Evey; her sisters, Dori Krutizinger and Kathy Hunt; and brothers, Howard Richison and Bill Richison.
