Elecia Michelle Grant-Milligan

January 22, 1970 — February 1, 2025

Elgin, Texas

Elecia Michelle Grant Milligan, known to many as Michelle or Shell, was born on January 22, 1970, to Jennifer Grant Marshall and Nathaniel (Sugar baby) Griffin in Austin, Texas.  At the age of eleven, Elecia’s mother married Roosevelt Harris, one who she came to love and respect as her father.

Thirty–two years ago, Michelle found the love of life, Frank Andrew Milligan. They lived and worked in Austin as their family grew with their daughter, Shanay. They moved home to Elgin, and purchased a home in Elgin’s Elm Creek Subdivision.

Michelle had a strong Christian foundation and welcomed God into her life at an early age. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Holmes and Pastor Sauls, where her foundation grew. Later, Michelle united by Christian Experience with Mount Calvary Primitive Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Daniel Thomas. Michelle served on the Usher Board and was a member of the Mission Society. She was a faithful servant until her death.

Michelle, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who left this world too soon but whose love and spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her. Michelle was a person who embodied kindness, love, and generosity. She was the "Big Mama" of her family, always ready to lend a helping hand and offer support whenever it was needed.

Each month, Michelle joyfully participated in the family tradition of game night, bringing people together for laughter, good food, and fond memories. She also loved to travel and made sure to take road trips each year with her mother and whoever else was fortunate enough to be invited. During Spring break and summer vacations, Michelle dedicated time to creating unforgettable memories with her husband, daughter, and grandchildren, whom she considered to be her greatest treasures.

Michelle’s true calling was working with children and adults with special needs. She was truly gifted in this area and brought smiles to the faces of the clients she served. Her ability to connect with them, showing them love and compassion, was a reflection of her own beautiful heart. Michelle devoted more than 15 years of service to Austin ISD before transitioning to Elgin ISD, where she continued her work until her passing.

Michelle also shared her love and support with her mother, who was active in the Taylor community, especially when it came to cultural holidays and events. Michelle was always by her side, working tirelessly to help make these occasions meaningful for everyone involved.

Michelle will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her. Her grandchildren, Datranay, and Nira, would proudly tell you that their grandma was the greatest. Though Michelle is no longer with us, her legacy of love, kindness, and devotion will continue to live on through her family, friends, and the countless lives she touched.

Michelle was preceded in death by her God Son, Little Bruce McNeal, Jr., Grandparents Ernest & Viola Marshall, Eurick & Robbie Lee Grant, A. V. & Lillie Mae Griffin, ‘Rosie Lee Blunson, Sister in Law, Winnie Mitchell, Aunt Gayle Marshall Comer, Linda Jackson, Verna Mae Milligan, Sarah Lee Griffin, Marsha Sue Guyton, Linda Faye Riggins, and Rhondel Kay Williams, Uncles, Eric Grant, Jr., Don Grant, L.
