Eldawease "Sissy" Penney

January 20, 1950 — March 9, 2025

Eldawease Crooks Penney, affectionately known by all as "Sissy" a beloved soul from Rockdale, peacefully departed this world on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on January 20, 1950, in Austin, Sissy was a beacon of love and warmth to all who knew her.

Throughout her life, Sissy found joy in the simple pleasures that nature provided; she especially enjoyed her time on the water, fishing with her family and spending time playing with all of her babies. She also love to sit on the porch watching the birds, squirrels and deer that would come to visit.

Sissy is now reunited with her beloved husband of 58 years, John Thomas Penney Sr., and her son/grandson, James Allan Penney. She also rejoins her parents, Willowease Blair Crooks and Arthur Ervin Crooks, as well as her brothers Jay, Leon, Leroy, and Bill Crooks, who welcomed her into Heaven's Gates with open arms.

She leaves behind a loving family who will carry her spirit in their hearts: her children, John Thomas Penney, Jr. and wife Sheila, George Russell Penney, Tricia Penney Giles and husband Cody Giles, Joshua Lee Penney, and Emma Ann Marie Popham; as well as her precious grandchildren, John Thomas Penney, III, Russell Wayne Penney, Rebecca Lynn Drews and husband Louis Drews, Sammantha Rae Horyza, and Callie Renae Walker; her great-grandchildren, Myken Lanell Penny, RK Austin Pitman, John Wesley Penny, Mitchell Wayne Kite, Andrew Edward Bishop, John Henry Horyza, Matthew Charles Horyza, Cody James Horyza, Colton Patrick Horyza, Sadie Jane Horyza, Walker James Kirk, and James John Penney; her brother, Gerald Wayne Crooks; her nephew, Leroy Crooks, who was like a brother to her and made it know was older than her, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whose lives she touched with her kindness and laughter. While she will be missed dearly, her love will forever remain in the hearts of everyone who was blessed to know and lover her. Let us forever honor her memory by always sharing stories filled with joy and laughter, just as she would have wanted.
