A Time to be Born:
On December 14, 1958 Durben Bernard Matthews Sr. was born in Elgin, Texas to Rosie Lee (Deceased) and Dorother Matthews (Deceased).
A Time to Grow:
He attended Elgin High School and Graduated Class of 1977 in top half of his class in Elgin High School, Elgin Texas. In 1979, he joined the U.S. Army where he graduated at the top of his class in the 4th Brigade Advanced Individual Training Course (Engineer). In 1980, as a private of the U.S. Army, he received a Bull-of-the-Woods award from the 39th Engineer Battalion Combat. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1982. For his success as a valued soldier, he received letters of recommendation from his Commander which he used to further serve his country as a civilian working a few years for the Department of Defense. During his lifetime he had a multitude of jobs specializing as a heavy equipment operator, materials handler, warehouse worker, and truck driver. He was married to Wilma Matthews, whom he had three children with. During the last years of his life, he moved from Texas to Florida to be closer to his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed relaxing, watching football, and spending time with his family. He will forever be missed by his children, grandchildren, family and friends.
A Time to Worship:
He confessed the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior.
A Time to Mourn
: Preceding him in death: Parents; Dorother and Rosie Matthews; two (2) brothers, Larry Matthews & Milton Matthews, and one (1) grandchild Zamar Franklin.
Time to Rest:
Durben departed this life on Monday, November 05, 2018 in Lake City, Florida.
He leaves loving memories in the hearts of his family.

Zamaria Granado, Tanaya Matthews, Camiah King, Durrell Matthews, Chrishon Franklin, Lonnie King III, Isaiah King, Cherish Franklin, and Calaysia King
Special Friends:
Anthony Penson, Belton Osborne, Derrick Collins, Douglas Alexander, Larry Russell, Leland Bonner, Ronnie Mayzone, Leonard Vizcarra, and many more host of nieces, nephews and sorrowing friends.
