In loving memory of Douglas Gorton, a remarkable soul whose vibrant spirit and boundless generosity touched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him. Born on April 11, 1962, in Ann Arbor, Washtenaw County, Michigan, Doug transitioned from this world when he lost his fight to heart disease on May 22, 2024, in Austin, Texas, leaving behind a legacy that will be forever cherished.
Doug's journey through life was marked by his unwavering commitment to his passion for painting. With over 30 years dedicated to his craft, he transformed his solo endeavor into the renowned Austin Natural Painting, a thriving business that stands as a testament to his expertise and artistry. His colorful mark can be seen across the finest neighborhoods in Austin, a tribute to his creativity and skill.
But beyond his professional accomplishments, Doug will be remembered for his exceptional storytelling. His tales were legendary, filled with humor and wit that never failed to captivate his audience. Whether sharing absurdities of life or poking fun at himself, Doug's stories brought laughter and warmth to all who listened. His irreverent humor and quick wit were unmatched, leaving friends and strangers alike in stitches of joy.
One of Doug's proudest accomplishments was his role as a rescuer of dogs. With a heart as big as his personality, he welcomed countless furry companions into his home and heart. From reuniting lost dogs with their owners to providing a loving sanctuary for those in need, Doug's compassion knew no bounds.
Doug is survived by his loving wife, Manith Tes-Gorton; devoted sister, Kim Krahn; and cherished nephew, Zephyr Uber. In their time of grief, may they find solace in the memories of a man who brought light and laughter wherever he went.
