Life’s Dash

De'Amante Creshaun Crothers Strong was born to Shannon Denise Strong Roberson on September 16, 1998, in Austin, Texas. Friends and family always lovingly called him Monte. At the age of two, he was introduced to a loving father, Bobby Roberson Sr. Monte was baptized at Mount Carmel Baptist Church of Elgin, Texas, at an early age.

Monte was nurtured into a compassionate, loving, respectful, and funny young man. He started playing football as a running back for the Falcons in Manor, Texas, where he was as fast as a gazelle. Monte would score multiple touchdowns each game. He continued to play football as an awesome quarterback for Elgin High School of Elgin, Texas, where he led his team to the playoffs in 2016.

After graduating from Elgin High School in 2017, he attended Blinn College in College Station, Texas. Monte worked for the City of Austin as a Traffic Controller.

Monte had a laid-back personality. He was an avid Play station Player. Monte also loved to watch some football. His favorite team was Ohio State. And one of his past times was riding horses with his cousins. If you spent time with Monte, you would know that his quality was not something you could pinpoint. He had a smile that showed you how much he appreciated you. As we look into the sky at night, we will know that Monte is looking down on us.

A traveling angel guided Monte on November 14th  to reunite with those who preceded him: Great Grandmother; Ruby "Madea" Lee Adams, Grandfather; Clyde Eugene Evans Sr., Fraternal Grandparents; Milton Roberson Sr. and Evangelist Vernell Roberson, Uncle, Darryl Roberts Sr. Sister; Christina Powell; Cousins; Larry "Chuck" Johnson Jr., Clarence "Squeaky" Adams, and Samuel "Sammy" "Red Rooster" Burse.

Monte is leaving to mourn his short legacy a strong woman, his Mother, Shannon Strong Roberson, a loving and caring Father, Bobby Roberson Sr. Grandparents: Wilma Evans and Everett Smith; Aunts and Uncles: Corey Eugene Evans, Christopher Eugene Evans, Cheryl Jeffries (Eric), Clyde Eugene Evans Jr., Claudia Merritt (Norris) Duraine Roberts, Kaylan and her husband, SM Burse, Kirby Roberson and his wife, La-Barbera, Michael Reese and his wife, Anderia, Deacon Milton Roberson Sr. and his wife, Theresa, Doug Roberson and his wife, Lisa, Berthella Roberson Brothers and Sisters: De'Angelo Strong ( Shemicka), De'Juan Strong (Joycelynn), Bobby Roberson Jr. (Mary), Brianna Roberson, and Bre'Asia Roberson, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives with a multitude of friends. A special shout out to his two-man crew, Milton "Pooh" Burse and Shawn Lemon.

Monte, your wings were ready, but our heart was not…fly high young man…
