On Wednesday, May 22, 2024, David Alan Roberts, aged 50, of Elgin, Texas, departed from this world. He was born on August 3, 1973, in Meridian, Mississippi to Cindy (Roberts) Shoemake and Robert Shows. David's life was characterized by his multifaceted abilities; a jack of all trades who generously assisted others with household and garage repairs. For over two decades, he dedicated himself to the Mechanical-HVAC field at Chrisner Services under the mentorship of Don Chrisner, forming a familial bond along the way. His warm nature endeared him to many, leaving an indelible mark on all those he encountered.
David's formative years in Purvis Mississippi cultivated his love for family and the outdoors. His marriage to Sissy (Frances) Hartfield brought forth two daughters, Ski and Toni Roberts. Following his relocation to Texas post-divorce, David embraced a life filled with camping adventures, swimming excursions, lively music events, barbeques under the sun, and tranquil fishing escapades. His penchant for riverside leisure activities was accompanied by a contagious enthusiasm that drew others into his circle of joy.
Within a large and diverse family tapestry, David leaves behind cherished memories that will be lovingly recounted by those who knew him.
Preceding him in death are his grandparents Charles and Mary Lou Thompson of Port Arthur Texas, David and Ailene Robert of Purvis; his father Robert Shows; his mother Cindy (Roberts) Shoemake; uncles Herbert (Rooster) and Tony Roberts; aunts Sue Massey and Sara (Thompson) Jamerson.
David is survived by his loving children, Ski and Toni Roberts; father, Larry Shoemake; sisters, Mandy (Tony) Miller, Amanda Shoemake, Rose (Cameron Waller) Shoemake, April Shows; brothers, James (Brenda) Shoemake, Kenny Shows, Noah Shoemake; uncles, Charles (Suzy) Thompson, Hubert (Darlene), Darrell Roberts; aunts, Charldene Roundtree, Lucille Cooper, Karen Roberts, many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life in honor of David will take place at Webberville Park on Saturday, June 15th at 10:00 AM located at 2305 Park Lane in Webberville ,Texas—where family and friends will come together to reminisce about shared moments with him. All attendees are encouraged to dress comfortably for outdoor activities as they gather to pay tribute to David’s life. Fishing poles, tackle boxes and lawn chairs are welcome additions for those inclined to partake in one of his favored pastimes.
