David Mogonye

David A. Mogonye, 64, passed away peacefully at his home in Elgin, Texas, surrounded by his loving family, early Monday morning, March 28, 2016. David was born in Taylor, Texas, the only son to Anna Emma-Malinda Albert Mogonye and Frank Walter Mogonye on July 31, 1951. David grew up in Elgin, Texas and attended Elgin Schools where he played varsity football and ran track. After graduating high school, he attended a few semesters at Texas A&M University, then obtained certification in automotive and agricultural equipment mechanics from Texas State Technical College. David worked hard and stayed busy all his life - he was always either cutting hay, helping someone with mechanical trouble, driving the funeral coach for the Elgin Funeral Home, or giving a friend or family member a hand with numerous activities. David also had a big heart for his community " he religiously volunteered at Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry, served as President for St. Peter"s Lutheran Men in Mission, and was always helping with countless fundraising BBQs. David loved his family above all, but even they had to take back seat during deer season!David is preceded in death by both his parents; his wife of 17 years, Jan Matetzshck Mogonye; and his previous father-law, Lawrence Matetzschk.David leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Judy L. Duncan Mogonye; his three children, Shannon Mogonye, Scott Mogonye, and Sherrill and husband Casey Crisp; three step-children, Tammy Flores, Theresa and husband Arthur Gibson, and Timothy Brashar; 11 grandchildren, Aaron, Jason, James, Leah, Arthur III, Cierra, Alexus, Ashleigh, Joshua, Jacob, Katlyn; two great-grandchildren; sister, Jeannette and husband Paul Peterson; and numerous nieces and nephews.The family will receive guests at the Elgin Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, March 30th. A Funeral Service will be conducted at Elgin Funeral Home at 10:00 AM Thursday, March 31st. Interment will follow at the Elgin Cemetery.
