David Earl Harper, affectionately known as "Buddy," passed away at his home in Bastrop, at the age of 68, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, November 10, 2015. David was born, the only boy, to Loretta Anne Ormand and Waldo Paso Harper in San Antonio, Texas on February 5, 1947. He grew up and attended schools in San Antonio before joining the U.S. Marine Corps in 1966. After serving his country during the Vietnam War, he returned home and began his career as a Computer Field Engineer. Buddy was a laid back guy, who loved spending time with his friends and family, especially boating on Canyon Lake. He is preceded in death by both his parents; his older sister, Patricia; his paternal and maternal grandparents; and his beloved companion, Bud, Jr.He is survived by his three children, Tara Suzanne Harper and husband Maximillian Saldibar of San Antonio; Wesley Todd Harper and wife Julie of Katy, and David Justin Harper and girlfriend Katie Smith of San Antonio; seven grandchildren, Brandyn Christopher, Devyn Anthony, Tatum Rhiannon, Madeleine Marie, Isabella Patricia, Wesley Drake, and Justin Blake; and his two sisters, Nita Robinson and husband William Abraham and Darlene and husband Tony Willis. We lost the greatest man we ever knew, our hero, idol, dad and best friend.A Celebration of Life will be conducted at The Fellowship of San Antonio at 11:00 AM Friday, November 13th with Brother Kerry Williams officiating. Entombment will be conducted at a later date at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas.
