Daniel Lopez, Jr.

August 5, 1982 — January 5, 2022

Elgin, Texas

Daniel “Danny” Lopez, Jr. passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at the age of 39 in Austin, Texas. His battle with serious medical issues over the past several years, showed his courage to face life’s challenges with a smile. Despite his pain, Danny fought courageously and hard to overcome, staying strong until the end.

Danny was born to Daniel, Sr. and Estella Alderete Lopez on August 5, 1982, in Rockdale, Texas. Danny was a one-of-a-kind and unique person; he had a unique style when it came to the way he dressed. In middle school and high school, Danny played football and tennis. His passion for tennis allowed him to receive several medals. He was also involved in the high school band and in his senior year, became the drum major of the marching band.  While in school, he was revered as someone who could make everyone laugh and befriended many people because of his character.

At the age of 16, Danny made the decision to accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He used his talent of singing from the age of 5, to praise and worship His God. Danny also was a choreographer to many praise dances that allowed several teenagers to be involved in worshipping the Lord. He was loved by these teenagers and with his amazing personality he made them laugh and feel loved. Danny was known as the “Singer.”  He sang with a passion and with all his heart; he loved to worship the Lord. One song we will always remember Danny singing is, “I’ll Fly Away.”  Now we can say he has fulfilled that song.

On September 5, 2009, Danny married the love of his life and his queen, Sonia Navejas. He loved his wife with all his heart, and he would make sure she was well taken care of.  On June 8, 2010, they welcomed their daughter, Jaylin Angelina Lopez. Danny now having two ladies in his life, whom he adored, he ensured to work hard to supply all their needs - Sonia and Jaylin were his heart!  Once Sonia received the calling from God to start Sonia Bass Ministries, Danny didn’t hesitate to support her and began working to accomplish everything God was showing them to do for His kingdom. His joy was working alongside his wife doing the work of the Lord.

Danny is preceded in death by both his parents, Daniel Lopez Sr and Estella Alderete Lopez. He is survived by his wife, Sonia Navejas Lopez; his daughter, Jaylin Angelina Lopez; his siblings, Mark Lopez, Jessie Lopez, Adrian Lopez and wife Camille, and Ashley Lopez Raymond and husband Bobby; his in-laws, Pete and Pilar Navejas, PJ Navejas and wife Denise, Lizette Lawhon and husband Mark, and Christian Navejas; seven nieces, four nephews, numerous extend family and dear friends.
