Almighty God, we rejoice in your promise of love, joy, and peace.
In your mercy turn the darkness of death into the dawn of new life,
and the sorrow of parting into the joy of heaven;
through our Savior, Jesus Christ, who died, rose again, and lives for evermore.
Amen
Daisy Lee Powell – McDonald, was the youngest child of nine children born to the late Johnnie Powell Sr. and Falva Brown- Powell on July 24, 1947, in Jonah, Texas. Daisy had a strong Christian foundation, and accepted Christ at an early age. She was baptized at Lake View Baptist Church in Elgin, Texas. During her journey of life, Daisy visited Pilgrim Rest Primitive Baptist Church in Austin, Texas.
In 1964, Daisy was united in Holy Matrimony to John Henry McDonald, and this union was blessed with two children, Terrance and Lisa. The couple made many memories, traveling far and near, exploring their children to the sites of the world. She was a great team player and the greatest supporter and encourager of anyone’s goals, especially her children. Daisy was kind, humble, classy, easy-going, and giving, she provided, when no one knew, she gave. Our Mother and my wife were a beautiful person – inside and out; always giving.
In the 1970’s, Daisy completed Business School and became a smart hardworking woman. During of working years, she worked at a few companies, including the Downtown Austin-State Brown Building, Austin Community College, IBM, and the Texas Department of Public Safety. Daisy was great in organizing tasks and keeping all orderly for any event.
In Daisy’s quality time, she enjoyed her family and friends. One could always find her in a corner, reading a Novel during her spare time.
After witnessing her family growing to four generations, Daisy’s life journey ended on Sunday, April 13, 2025. She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Robert B. Powell, R. T. Powell, and James A. Powell: three sisters, Henrietta Chambers, Barbara Jean Rivers, and Rosa Mae Hill.
Daisy leaves precious memories with her husband of sixty-one years, John Henry, her son, Terrance “Joe”, and her daughter, Lisa Gaye; her two grandchildren, Justin Henell McDonald, and Sabra Kinsey Baker; her sister, Joyce Ann Barrs; and a host of nieces and nephews touching generations to come; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Daisy McDonald, a God-fearing woman, was loving, caring, and devoted wife, mother and sister. She loved and took care of her family. She will be truly missed.
