With her family at her bedside, Sister Cynthia Lashan Green went to be the Lord on Friday, December 17, 2021, at the age of fifty-four. Cynthia was born to the parents of Linda Kay Thomas and Freddie Owens in the small community of Elgin, Texas on April 3, 1967.
Cynthia accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Reverend T. L. Garner, Sr. at the Weeping Willow Baptist Church where she reminded a faithful member until her death. Cynthia was a caring and compassionate person, who loved the Lord, her family, and her church. She served as a member of the young adult choir, the kitchen committee and became a strong supporter of the youth as a Youth Advisor and helper with the Youth Ushers.
Cynthia attended public schools in Bastrop County and later moved to Austin where she graduated from Lanier High School in 1985. Cynthia participated in basketball and track and took some cosmetology classes.
Cynthia’s dedication to helping people led her to the health care profession, and later working with kids with special needs until her health failed. Cynthia enjoyed sitting with her children as they watch the grandsons playing.
Cynthia will be greeted in Heaven by her mother, Linda Owens and stepfather, James Davis.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Quinton Owens, her daughter, LaKenya Alexander; her three grandsons, Quincy Nolan-Lowe, Larry, and Zaylen Penson; her husband, Weldon Green; her father, Freddie Owens, her mother, Kathy Owens; two brothers, Anthony (Tiger) Davis, and Datron Owens; her grandmother, Ruby Johnson, and she also leaves a host of Uncles, Aunts, cousins, and friends, including the Weeping Willow Church family.
Prayer:
Lord, visit us today and give us faith to believe that our child, our sister, our mother, who served faithfully, is in your presence and we will see her again. Take away the pain and fill our hearts with your light. Help us walk in love and fill us with joy everlasting. Lord, turn our mourning into dancing. Remind us about Eternity. Let hope fill our hearts so that we look forward to seeing our child again. In Jesus’s Holy name we believe and pray. Amen…
