Carrie Louise McCloskey, 82, of Elgin, passed away peacefully, Friday, December 25, 2020. Carrie was born in Chocolate Bayou, Texas on November 7, 1938, to Alfred Richard Dietrich and Margaret Peterson Dietrich. Carrie grew up in South Houston and graduated from Pasadena High school. After graduation, she moved to San Marcos, where she attended Southwest Texas and received her Bachelors. On May 29, 1970, she married the love her of her life, Robert Anthony McCloskey. The couple moved to Elgin in 1983, where they raised their two sons. Carrie was a huge part of their son’s school and sports, where she never missed a game and was usually the team taxi. She opened her home to all and touched the lives of many of the boy’s friends and teammates. Carrie loved her church, New Sweden Lutheran, where she was an active member and enjoyed spending time with her dear friends, Alma Penson, Ann Walker, Nancy Sneed, Dorothy Roundtree, and Sharon Jurek.
Carrie was a true Texas Longhorn Fan and Dallas Cowboy Fan. She loved going out to eat with her family and friends. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She also loved all her many animals.
Carrie is survived by her husband, Robert Anthony McCloskey; her two sons, Robert Allen McCloskey and Michael McCloskey and wife Terri; her three grandsons, Jacob, Ethan, and Matias; her two granddaughters, Maggie and Marly; her brother, Richard Dietrich; and numerous extended family and dear friends.
Family will receive guests at the Elgin Funeral Home, Tuesday, December 29th from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Funeral Service will be conducted at New Sweden Lutheran Church, Wednesday, December 30th at 11:00 AM with the Reverend, Hans Lillejord presiding. Interment will follow at New Sweden Church Cemetery.
