Caroline Lane Nixon

February 10, 1933 — December 31, 2024

Austin, Texas

“A light from our household has dimmed.

A voice we loved has been stilled.

A place is vacant in our hearts that can never be filled.”

On the early morning of December 31, 2024, an angel came and summoned the bright spirit of our dear Mother, Caroline C. Lane-Nixon. Her lips were sealed, and her soul entered Eternal Rest.

Caroline was born on February 10, 1933, to Jerry D. Lane and Eula Handy in Opelousas, Louisiana. Caroline grew up with a strong Christian foundation and Godly parents. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized under the Catholic faith, attending Catholicism with her siblings. Caroline attended the public schools of St. Landry Parish.

Caroline moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana as a young adult and worked in the service industry. Caroline met and married John Nixon, Sr. She loved to dress, smell good, and cook. After her divorce, Caroline moved to New Iberia, Louisiana, where she lived for several years. In the early 2000s, Caroline moved to Austin, Texas, near family. Her circle of life grew, and she became comfortable with the Texas lifestyle. Her cooking of Cajun food was a hobby for her because her family enjoyed it so much. Her favorite dish to serve was Gumbo. Being a people person, Caroline was a joy and loved to make people laugh.

Awaiting Caroline’s arrival in Glory are her parents, and her siblings, Joseph Ballard, Tony Jenkins, Aldridge Jenkins, and Junius Lane. Caroline led a rewarding life as she desired, for her legacy is endless.

Caroline was blessed with ninety – one years, and she leaves in God’s hands to cherish her memories, her three sons, Roy Lane J. and wife Eunice Lane, Leander Jett, Jr., John Pernell Nixon, Jr., wife Masika Sanders, four grandchildren, Eunice Lane, Troy Lane, Damian Lane, Leslie Lane, Roy Lane, Jr., Bruce Edmondson, and twenty great-grandchildren. Caroline also leaves one sister, Mary Lane, her daughter, Carolyn Roberson, and her husband, Robby Mitchell, great niece and nephew, Robbyn Mitchell and Joseph Mitchell, and a host of friends and relatives extending to Louisiana.
