Calvin "Donell" Vincent

Calvin Donell Vincent, 48, of Elgin, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2019.  Donell was born to Calvin and Alice Vincent on December 10, 1970 in Elgin, Texas.

Donell grew up and attended school in Elgin, where he played football for the Wildcats until he graduated in 1989.

Donell accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of the Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, where he was baptized by the late Reverend Q.S. Goins.

Donell loved spending time with his children, watching sports, fishing with his family, and hanging with family. He wasn’t a stranger to anyone he met.  He had tons of friends and especially loved spending time with his first cousins, John Vincent and Jacob “Bear” Cortez.

Donell was a hard worker and was no stranger to work.  He worked for Crosstown BBQ, Stripling Blake Lumber, Applied Materials, Eva Mae’s and Elgin Nursing Rehabilitation.

Donell was blessed with a special dad, Marvin Hope, who helped him get his first vehicle.

Donell cherished his children Damion, Shaqualla, Kenan, Tyshon and Ayden.

Donell took his last breath, on this side of Heaven with his mom by his side on Tuesday, July 2, 2019.

Donell was preceded in death by his Father, Calvin Vincent; grandparents, Leon Verse, Marion Vincent, and Katherine Vincent.

Donell leaves to cherish his memory his five children, Damion of Austin, Shaqualla, Kenan, Tyshon, and Ayden all of Elgin; his mother, Alice Hope; step-dad, Marvin Hope; his two brothers, Kevin Vincent and Alfred Vincent; one sister, LaCarol Vincent; maternal grandmother, Ola Mae Verse; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends. As well as his Special Friend, Twanna Williams.

A Home Going Celebration will be conducted at the Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church of Elgin on Monday, July 8th at 1:00 PM with the Reverend Byron Green presiding.  Interment will follow at the Youngs Prairie Cemetery.
