Benny Garcia

Benny Garcia was born in Austin, Texas, on December 15, 1959. He was called to his Heavenly Home by his Lord and Savior, Tuesday, November 3, 2020.  Benny grew up and attended schools in East Austin.  He spent his life in Austin, which allowed him to help his mom, Alicia and make wonderful memories with his loving family.  Benny loved to watch his Dallas Cowboys play football.  He loved listening to music and would always sing his favorite songs to his family and friends.

Benny was preceded in death by his siblings, Danny Alvarado, Robert Alvarado, and Monica Alvarado.  He is survived by his six children, Julia Mendoza, Sabrina Garcia, Robert, Manuel, Johnny, and Andrew Rodriguez; his two grandchildren, Rey Mendoza and Amelia Mendoza; his mother, Alicia Gonzales;  his siblings, Joe Alvarado, Thomas Alvarado, Leonard Alvarado, Michael Alvarado, Ruben Garcia, Gloria Garcia, Avelina Gonzales, and Edward Alvarado; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. Benny had a heart of gold and could lift anyone’s spirit - he will truly be missed by all that knew and loved him.

He will Lie In State Friday, November 20, 2020, from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM, at Elgin Funeral Home. The family will receive guests from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, with a Funeral Service at 2:00 PM with Minister Joshua A Hausladen presiding.  Interment will follow at Cook-Walden Memorial Hill Cemetery, Pflugerville.
