Barbara Dale Oradesky (Calhoun), passed away on the morning of November 28, 2024, at the age of 84 in La Grange, Texas.
Born on November 10, 1940, in Eagle Pass, Texas. She attended Georgetown High School, where she was good friends with Mary Margaret Mason, Ruth M. Poole, and Kay Covey Langham (deceased) were known as “The Sailorettes of Georgetown.”
It is during this time period, that she fell in love with a young soldier from Fort Hood that she meets at San Gabriel Park in Georgetown, Texas. Married on June 19, 1959, she then moved to New York City where they would begin a new life together. In July of 61, Barbara became the mother of her first child, Vincent Jr.
In 1964, the family moved back to the state of Texas in Schertz. Where shortly after arriving in 1966 her second child, Michael Wayne was born. And in 1970, her third and final child was born, Ray Ernest.
In the years to follow Barbara completed her GED. And was a member of Schertz First Baptist Church before moving to Elgin, Texas in the early 80’s.
Our mom didn’t invent a cure for something. She lived an average life, upon the values and ideas that were passed down to her. She passed these values on to her sons and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Barbara is preceded in death by mother and father, her husband Vincent Oradesky, Sr. and 2 great-grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by her three sons: Vincent Oradesky, Jr. and wife Doris, Michael Oradesky and wife Erin, and Ray Oradesky and wife Jessica. Grandchildren: Vincent, lll (Megan), Shannon Stanhope (Ted), Scott, Tabitha McKneely (Gabe), Patricia Flenniken (Kevin), Thomas Goss Jr. (Jennie), Matthew Goss (Jennifer), Andrew, Bradley, Colton, Dakota, Sommer Mahon (Chris), Emmit (Alexis), Forrest, Gustus, Trevor, Bryan Bertram. With 37 great-grandchildren. Also survived by two brothers, Jimmie Calhoun and wife Linda and Raymond Calhoun and wife Linda and their families.
Family and Friends will gather for Visitation at Elgin Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 4th from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A Graveside Service will be held at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery on Thursday, December 5th at 12:00 PM.
