Annie Goericke

Annie Ruth Cotton Goericke, 89, of Coupland, Texas passed away surrounded by her family early Monday morning, May 30th, 2016. She was born on Thursday, September 9, 1926 in Geneva County, Alabama to Tessie Cleo Benefield and Arthur L. Cotton.She married the love of her life, Mr. Carl William Goericke on December 18, 1951. Annie had a passion for helping people and graduated from Blinn College in 1960 with an Associates Degree in Nursing and would go on to spend 27 years working at the Austin State Hospital.Annie is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cotton; sister, Floylee Head; two brothers, Seth Preston Cotton and Arthur Cotton, Jr.; one granddaughter, Cristina Grace Brunken.She leaves to cherish her memories husband of 65 years, Carl William Goericke; children, Karen M. and husband Waldon Boecker, Carl W. Goericke, Jr. and wife Loretta, Susan C. and husband Charles Brunken, Victor Keith Goericke and wife Michelle; three sisters, Carolyn Hawkins, MarySue Palmer and Joe Mack Cotton; grandchildren, Jason Boecker, Jared Boecker, Brice Boecker, Greggory Goericke, Tirinie Howard, Phillip Goericke, Clayton Brunken, David Brunken, and James Whatley; great grandchildren, Sariann Boecker, Maddison Boecker, Chayse Boecke, Kacianna Boecker, Ethan Boecker, Wyatt Boecker, Heather Howard, Autumn Brunken, Logan Whatley and Landon Whatley.The family would like to express a special thanks to Laura, Michelle, and Scott & White Hospice, especially Jasmine, Kim, Chaplin Kruze and Pastor Mike Fizzell for all their love and support during this difficult time.The family will receive guest Thursday, June 2, 2016 at the Elgin Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 3, 2016 at the Elgin Funeral Home at 10:00 AM with Pastor Mike Fizzell officiating. Interment will follow at the Elgin Cemetery.
