Amonte Lamonte Mendez was born on August 31, 2004.
He attended schools in the Austin Independent School district.. Pickle Elementary, Pecan Springs Elementary, Webb Middle School, and Reagan Early College High School and his first job was disaster clean-up after Hurricane Ida hit.
“Monte” loved to play his game, stay up to date on the latest shoe release, his mom and his family, and playing football. “Monte” had a contagious smile and laugh that lit up any room that he stepped into. Not one negative vibe or bone in his body.
Monte memories will be cherished by his mother, Jessica Mendez and her boyfriend, Kendric Meeks; Grandparents; Linda Lee, Mario Mendez, Sr., Rose and Robert Hawkins, a special grandmother, Rose Robinson; Five aunts; Simona Mendez, Crystal Hawkins, Cassandra Hawkins-Chandler (Tony), Felicia Reed (Alan), Barbara Wright; Four uncles; Demetrio Mendez, Mario Mendez, Jr, Dimitri Turnipseed, and Tyler Teague; Cousins; Desmond Jones, Desonique Jones, Alec Bedford, Keith Mathis Jr, Kevin Mathis Jr, Da’Von Mathis, Diego Mendez, Demetrio Mendez Jr, Dizhaunique Hawkins, Dominique Hawkins, Christopher Aldridge, and Daytron Owens.
Amonte is preceded in death by his father: Ronnie Rodell Rhodes. Cousins; Justin “Jut” Mendez and Markeal “Kudda” Owens.
Amonte Lamonte Mendez,17, of Austin, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2022. Family and friends will gather at Elgin Funeral Home Friday, May 13th from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A Home-Going Celebration will be conducted at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Saturday, May 14th at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Colorado Chapel Cemetery.
