Alfred Poole

Alfred H. Al Poole, 81, went to be with the Lord February 25th at the age of 81. He was born in Adrian, Georgia January 25, 1932, to Arthur L. Poole and Annie Mae Hall Poole. He served in the United States Air Force as an Air Policeman from 1951 until 1955. While stationed at Bergstrom Air Force Base, he met the love of his life Betty Ann Westbrook and on April 16, 1955, they wed. After serving his Country, he began a lifelong career with Southern Pacific Railroad, where he served in the Rail Road Police Department. He was a member of the Evangelical Free Church of Elgin and accepted Christ as his personal Savior as a teenager.He is survived by his wife, Betty Ann Poole and dear friends, Rusty and wife Rosemary Strmiska. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Hospice Austin, and especially to Rita Joseph for their special care. Many thanks and appreciation to Dr. Kenneth Sherman and his staff for their wonderful and kind help rendered throughout the years. Memorial contributions can be mad in Als memory to the Evangelical Free Church Cemetery Association, in care of James Christianson, 1520 Windsor, Austin, Texas 78703The family will receive guests at the Elgin Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, February 27th. A funeral service will be conducted graveside at 2:00 PM Thursday, February 28th with Pastor Stroup officiating. Interment will follow with full Military Honors at Evangelical Free Church Cemetery of Kimbro.
