Alafia Jones

Alafia Janelle Allen was born to Malone C. Allen, Jr. and Carolyn Carrington Allen on August 3, 1970. Alafia professed her faith in Christ at an early age at Wesley United Methodist Church.

Alafia matriculated through the Austin school system, starting at Norman Elementary where her grandfather, Malone Allen, Sr. was the principal, then graduated from John H. Reagan High School in 1988. She continued her education by attending Huston-Tillotson College, now University.

Alafia most recently worked as an accountant for the State of Texas Health and Human Services Commission.

Preceding her in death were Alafia's parents, Malone and Carolyn Allen; grandparents, Malone and Claudia Murphy Allen, Obie Carrington Sr. and Cherry Wheeler Carrington; and great-aunts, Fannie Mae Lawless and Velma Murphy Jones.

Alafia leaves to cherish her memory her two sons, Joshua Allen-Wilson, Xavier Gadlin and Darius Dickson; her beloved, Richard Gadlin; sisters, Cherryl Allen (Nathan), Jacquelyn McWilliams (Kerry), Kisha Shaw (Chris), Cherie Harrell (Tremon), and Jazmyne Allen-White (Joseph); and nephews, Courtney Allen, Malon Bell, Blake Hunter, Daiveon Hunter, Jamir Quinton, Sema’J Barnes and nieces Tiiana C.A.J. Allen-Hawkins, Kierra Allen, Serenity McDonald. Also mourning her loss are great-aunts, Alice Allen Gholston, Jewel Allen, Maxine City, and Harriet Murphy, and a host of family and beloved friends.
The family will receive guests at the Saint John Regular Baptist Association on Thursday, May 10th from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Following the visitation, a Memorial Service, celebrating Alafia’s Life will be conducted at 11:00 AM with the Reverend Byron Green Presiding.
